Where to buy your t-shirts

If you're a fan of printed tees, you must be already familiar with Threadless. Personally, I've been kind of disappointed lately with their designs (too crowded), but luckily there are plenty of other options available (with some of the shops you'll have to arrange delivery with your friends in the States, because they don't ship all over the world). Let's see what we got:

Filter Design Competition

Am fost invitata de Razvan la conferinta de deschidere care va avea loc pe 12 martie. Sunt nerabdatoare sa merg pentru ca:

• Dick Powell va vorbi despre cei 18 ani de succes petrecuti in design, despre cateva case studies, despre cum se creeaza, defineste si evalueaza designul de calitate;

• invitati vor mai fi si Marius Ursache de la Grapefruit, Stefan Barutcieff si Bulent Ozkan de la Arcelik;

• pentru ca ma voi (re)intalni cu oameni misto.

"I like" is the designer's enemy:

• pentru ca ce-ti place tie personal nu vine de cele mai multe ori in sprijinul comunicarii pe care o ai de facut

• pentru ca un stil/trend e ceva care dureaza doar jumatate de an

• si ceva care devine overused pe masura ce e adoptat de restul comunitatii

• timp in care isi pierde vizibilitatea, distinctia si unicitatea

• pentru ca orice care nu are in spate research, strategie si rationament e in final doar a big piece of shiny bullshit

• si pentru ca in definitiv se cheltuie bugetele clientului pe work care va fi out-of-date in scurt timp

toate astea intr-un articol care da mult de gandit. Nu uitati sa cititi si comentariile.

Cat de necesar e sa stim sa desenam de mana?

O intrebare pe care personal mi-am pus-o de multe ori pentru ca cel mai probabil fac parte dintre cei care au ceva talent, dar nu l-au exploatat suficient incat sa il transforme intr-un skill.
Daca ne gandim la munca pe care o facem in fiecare zi, timpul pe care il petrecem efectiv desenand sau schitand idei e din ce in ce mai redus - calculatorul face totul: rapid, precis si modificabil la nesfarsit. Si-atunci mai avem cu adevarat nevoie de creioane sau doar de o idee clara in cap si de capacitatea de a o materializa in Illustrator? Un designer care nu stie sa deseneze e ca un jurnalist care nu stie sa scrie sau conteaza mai mult ca el sa stie sa faca research si sa tina o prezentare coerenta?

Concurs de postere pentru Hugo Boss

Competitia e formata din 4 runde, fiecare cu cate 10 finalisti care castiga 500USD + aparitie in I-D Magazine. Se cere un poster publicitar inspirat de (si care sa contina) sticla Hugo Man.
Prima runda a inceput pe 5 februarie si dureaza o luna. Ce s-a inscris pana acum este slabut, asa ca aruncati-va in batalie.
